Garden birds in winter
MPs say no to badger cull
Be a savvy saver
Bang! Fireworks
Dear supporter,
It's been another bumper month for animal welfare. Thanks to your unwavering support we lobbied so that MPs could discuss the badger cull for the first time, and the cull of these protected creatures has been put on hold days before it was to begin. But we can't afford to stop now, defenceless animals still need us. Read on to see how you can help.

Garden birds in winter A circus ban by 2015?
Feeding winter birds © RSPCA Circus lion © RSPCA
We've plenty of ideas to help garden birds survive the harsh winter months. Find a list of foods your garden birds will love and a colourful print-out guide to share with the children. Don't forget to provide plenty of fresh water and keep everything clean. The circus licensing scheme due to be implemented by the government will do nothing to improve animal welfare. Make sure the government keep their promise to end the suffering of wild animals in the circus and bring in a ban by 2015!.

How great is Britain?
When it comes to higher animal welfare - pretty great! In last week's Good Business Awards leading retailers scooped prizes for higher welfare food and high street favourites brought home the bacon for ethical fashion. It seems shopping has become a new form of social activism. Make sure you're supporting businesses doing good things.

MPs say ‘No’ to a badger cull
MPs have voted by a resounding majority against the planned cull of badgers. While this vote alone will not stop the cull from going ahead, it's a huge step in our campaign to get this reckless policy shelved altogether. Please email your MP thanking them if they voted against the cull and if they didn’t, urge them to reconsider the overwhelming arguments against the badger cull.
